Xperen is an Energy Service Company (ESCo). We identify high performance energy saving solutions for commercial clients and then provide the necessary investment capital for their implementation. The energy savings are then shared for a period of time after which the client retains the full savings.

Xperen engages energy consultancy expertise from award winning Ascough Consulting Engineers (www.ascough.ie) to identify and specify optimal energy saving solutions. The quality of the solutions delivered through Xperen assure highest levels of energy savings for our clients and associated savings in maintenance costs.

Examples of current and past energy related work by Ascough Consulting include PriceWaterhouseCoopers, eircom HQ, eircom Telecom Exchanges, Friends First HQ and UCD’s district heating system.

  • PriceWaterhouseCoopers HQ - located at 1 Spencer Dock, Dublin 1, this energy solutions amounting to €750,000 in value are currently being fine tuned. When complete, this previously efficient 250,000ft2 and relatively new building (2007) will consume up to 40% less electricity and gas.
  • Eircom HQ – the energy efficient design of this building resulted in winning the 2009 “Sustainable Design Excellence” SEAI Energy Award, the 2008 “Sustainable Building of the Year” and “Commercial Development of the Year” Irish Property Awards.
  • Eircom Telecom Exchanges – eircom’s main Dolphin’s Barn, Clondalkin and Mervue telecom exchanges were equipped with energy saving solutions in 2011. The air conditioning loads have subsequently reduced by 80+%.
  • Friend First HQ – the energy savings solutions applied to this 2002 building delivered 40% savings on both electricity and gas. This project was a finalist in SEAI’s 2011 Energy Awards for “Small/medium user” and “Overall Innovation Award”.
  • UCD District Heating System – UCD’s district heating system has evolved in a complex manner since its central heating network was first deployed in the 1960s. In 2010, Ascough Consulting Engineers were UCD’s consultant of choice to analyse this system and rationalise its operation to take advantage of its capability for significant energy efficiency.
